The Thynnidae, or flower wasps, is a relatively small family of aculeate wasps. The females of some subfamilies are wingless. Thynnids hunt for ground-dwelling beetle larvae, which are paralyzed by the female's powerful sting; the female then lays a single egg to hatch and the emergent larva to consume the host.
