| While for plant lovers Crete in spring is a paradise, the island is a bit short in 'typical' tourist attractions. This means one has to be creative, and invent attractions. The so-called Ancient Olive Tree is such an invention, allegedly 3000-3500 years old. Any evidence for this high age is never presented, nor referred to, so perhaps imagination significantly contributes to this high age. But it has to be said, it's an impressive tree. The immediate neighborhood was at least as interesting, with abundant flowers. |
